AIP and dSPACE combine expertise for realistic vehicle simulations and reliable validation of assistance and parking systems

AIP and dSPACE are working together to provide advanced test solutions for the development and validation of highly automated driving functions. The focus is on vehicle-in-the-loop (VIL) test procedures, which enable real vehicles to be tested in combination with virtual driving scenarios under controlled conditions. This innovative approach combines test systems, steering systems, and over-the-air stimulated sensor technology to deliver reproducible, safety-relevant test results for assistance and autonomous systems.

The collaboration complements the strengths of both companies: AIP contributes its many years of experience in testing and automation technology, while dSPACE expands the VIL test environments with powerful simulation and validation tools. Together, they create a flexible, realistic, and precise test environment for the challenges of modern driver assistance and automation technologies.

Smart parking tests with VIL simulation

In this joint project, AIP and dSPACE demonstrate how smart parking assistance systems can be tested efficiently and safely. Combining a steerable wheel hub test bench with virtual driving scenario simulation and over-the-air simulation of ultrasonic sensors creates a realistic test environment for parking assistance functions.

ADAS function validation in the VIL environment

The joint system with dSPACE enables the validation of key assistance functions such as adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane departure warning and emergency braking systems, and traffic sign recognition using vehicle-in-the-loop testing. This test environment is an important tool for robust validation of complex ADAS functionality and contributes to the safe series production of modern assistance systems.
