Charging boxes for EMC-optimized AC and DC charging scenarios in the laboratory

AIP's EMC charging technology enables reproducible and interference-free charging processes under defined electromagnetic conditions – ideal for EMC chambers, validation centers, and development environments. Both the AC and DC charging boxes are specially designed to replicate real-world charging conditions in accordance with international standards, minimize interference, and enable precise measurements during active charging processes. AIP charging boxes thus offer a reliable, standards-compliant, and highly flexible solution for testing modern electric mobility systems.

Advantages

  • EMC-optimized design for interference-free, reproducible measurements
  • Support for international AC and DC charging standards
  • High flexibility and modular integration into test benches and EMC chambers
  • Precise grid and load simulation for realistic charging conditions
  • Powerful, compliant with standards, and prepared for future standards

Application

  • EMC test benches, EMC chambers, and validation systems
  • Tests according to ECE R10, CISPR 12/25/36, GB/T, and other international standards
  • Development, validation, and approval of on-board chargers and HV components
  • Functional and immunity tests under real charging conditions
  • Research, OEM test centers, suppliers, and testing institutes

Two technologies. One goal: trouble-free EMC testing.

AC charging box for EMC testing

Realistic network simulation – fully EMC-optimized.

The AIP AC charging box was developed specifically for EMC testing and enables realistic AC charging processes under strictly controlled conditions. In combination with the AC source/sink (HPAC), it forms a powerful overall system for simulating international power grids – ideal for development, validation, and approval testing.

Thanks to integrated LISN network simulation, galvanic isolation, and EMC-optimized design, the AC charging box guarantees interference-free measurements and high repeatability. It supports international AC charging standards and can be flexibly integrated into EMC chambers, test cells, or roller test benches.

Performance characteristics:
  • Output voltage: 0–305 V (L–N)
  • Output current: 1–72 A AC
  • Frequency range: 0–1000 Hz
  • Max. power: 50 kVA
Advantages:
  • EMC-optimized design with integrated LISN
  • Simulation of global grid types (TN, TT, split phase, delta, etc.)
  • Compatible with Type 1, NACS AC, Type 2, and GB/T AC
  • Flexible installation thanks to pluggable cables
DC charging box for EMC testing

Maximum DC power. Minimal EMC influence.

The AIP DC Charging Box (EMC Charging Box) is a high-performance EMC-optimized DC charging solution for vehicles, HV components, and charging infrastructure testing. Its integrated EMC filter design effectively reduces conducted and radiated interference and is > 6 dB below CISPR 12 limits. This enables precise emission, immunity, and communication measurements during active charging.

The charging box supports up to seven international DC charging standards—including CCS1, CCS2, CHAdeMO, MCS, NACS, and GB/T – making it ideal for current and future high-voltage architectures. The robust all-in-one design allows for easy integration into EMC chambers, turntables, or laboratory setups.

Performance characteristics:
  • Charging power: up to 400 kW / 500 A
  • Output voltage: 100–1000 V DC
  • Dimensions: 1425 × 875 × 425 mm
  • Communication standards: ISO15118 (including 15118-20), DIN 70121, CHAdeMO 2.3, GB/T 27930
Advantages:
  • EMC compliance > 6 dB under CISPR 12
  • Supports current and new DC charging standards
  • Precise test conditions for emission and immunity tests
  • Mobile and flexible integration into EMC chambers and test benches

AIP charging boxes combine maximum measurement precision with full compliance with standards – for reliable EMC charging tests that meet international requirements.
